Mission Statement

The Office of Continuing Medical Education within the Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences goals are to provide programs that both physicians and other health care professionals can utilize in their practice to improve patient outcomes, advance clinical knowledge and support high standards of medical practice.

Purpose

The Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences continuing medical education (CME) program promotes evidence-based educational opportunities to enhance the expertise of physicians and other health care professionals. The main goals are to improve patient care outcomes, advance clinical knowledge and support high standards of medical practice.

Content

OSU's CME program offers a variety of primary care, specialty and subspecialty topics which best identify "gaps" between current and best practice. Content is formulated with evidence-based care, relativity to the target audience's scope of practice and ultimately offering tools to assist health care professionals in the clinical environment.

Target Audience

Physicians and other healthcare professionals in the fields of medicine both locally and globally.

Activity Types

OSU offers regularly scheduled multi and single day conferences along with online continuing medical education courses.

Expected Results

The expected result of a physician and other healthcare professional after their participation in OSU's CME offerings is to improve competence and/or performance.
Competence is measured with Outcome Measures assessments which validate whether or not the newly learned strategies has been or will be applied.
Performance is measured with Outcome Measures assessments which show that the newly learned strategies will be implemented into the providers practice.

Accreditation

Under the authority of the American Osteopathic Association, Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences continuing medical education (CME) program is fully accredited to offer Category 1 CME Credit.
